The programme Fairy tales by the bonfire is developed by non-governmental organization Kres Institute.
Their mission is awareness and preventive action in the field of digital and media addiction for the development of digital competencies. In support of a conscious attitude and responsible use of digitalization and the media, we have developed programme “Fairy tales by the bonfire” that promotes the life skills of children and young people growing up, through art, storytelling, handicrafts, free play in caring for nature, culture, heritage and the empathic community. We connect with wider community, especially with schools and youth non-governmental organizations such as Familija Institute.
So, we kindly invite you to join us on our mission and at the same time get to know our beautiful town of Škofja Loka. “Fairy tales by the fireplace" program presents the medieval town in an original way and nurtures values that communicate concern for humanity and the empathetic community. As part of this program, we will learn about the short history of the city, explore castles and indulge in the fairy-tale atmosphere of the ethnological heritage of the place through nature, handicrafts, culture and storytelling
The gathering place (DUO Handicraft Center) ascends past Škofja Loka castle to Stolp na Kranclju castle and then to a lookout point above the town. On the way we get to know the short history of the town, discover the hidden corners and on our return we take time for a view and other attractions along the way. In the shelter of the city walls we listen to an ancient fairy tale by the fireplace, prepare a snack, and continue handcrafting in a fairy-tale atmosphere. We can also try the traditional ethnological game and get to know the heritage of the place.
What is included: guided tour, lunch and tea, handicraft workshop + material, ethnological games, storytelling and fairy tales.
