The northernmost part of the Mediterranean Sea, the northernmost part of the Adriatic Sea, half- closed area, heavy traffic, pollution – these are only some of the negative characteristics of the area where a small, but permanent population of dolphins of the bottlenose species lives all year round. They play, feed themselves, reproduce and care for their offspring. Monitoring these dolphins allows us an insight into their interesting life, while it also offers new knowledge of the problems they encounter in this area. Help us keep the dolphins in our sea. Your participation may contribute to the effective protection of these wonderful animals.
Have you ever wondered what dolphin research looks like? Take advantage of the opportunity, learn about the beauties of the Slovenian coast from land and the sea and join researchers on an interesting expedition. We will present what, how and why we perform activities to provide a better future for the dolphins in our waters. You will learn about the Slovenian dolphin research program, the problems of marine waste, scientific methods of studying the dolphins, learn about their ecology and try finding the dolphins yourself.
Our work will have several beneficial effects - collection of data for a long-term and effective protection of dolphins, reduction of the negative impact of waste on the marine environment and promotion of sustainable management of natural resources and responsible management of marine ecosystem. A part of the earnings will be given to programs for the protection of dolphins in the sea of Slovenia. Impact tourism thus enables us to co-create a better and more beautiful world in a pleasant way.
